Theater's creed

I wanted to post this so I could access it whereever I was:

Theatre’s Creed

We come together in this place with open heart and open mind.
The bond of the love of theatre and the wish to share this art.
To king and player alike may we join together and
make beauty on this stage tonight.

Can you draw a tree?

I know only God can make a tree, however, Crystal does a really good job of drawing one! She came to the church (after service with our brand new pastor, and a meeting afterwards) and with charcol and rough pencil sketch (by me) created the outdoor scene for the play.

Tomorrow I paint.

The cabin

Saturday. Suzy had said that some kids from Choctah were coming in to "do" the sets today at 9:30.

They showed up with Mr. Rush, the man-in-charge. Wow.

We have a cabin. It really looks good.

I don't know how to thank everyone. Suzy, the kids, (especially the one who ruined her white pants with black paint!), Mr Rush.

The outside scene will be done on Sunday by Crystal...

Hell week

Well, finally. We went through "hell week". I had seen that term and had tooo many other things to be concerned about - after all, since this was a play being produced in a church, we would not have that problem, right?

Wrong.

Yes, we managed to get through it and what doesn't kill you...

Wednesday was not a wonderful day/night - let's leave it at that (I didn't know that I was capable of the thoughts I had.) Hmmm

Thursday was much better.

Too many things still to be done. The flats are blank.

Stage sets

We have the cabin and outdoor flats set up and they will stay set up until strike.

We still do not a the scenes painted. We have a plan a and a plan b. Plan A is someone Linda knows who said she would paint the scenery for us. Plan B is someone else.

I have come up with Plan C. I don't want to do Plan C. If A & B fall though, I will have to paint the scenery myself. I have purchased a paint kit with a "Painting For Dummies" (That's me, for sure.)

Update Monday 26 November

Regular rehearsal. The timing was within one minute from last week. However, there were a number of lines skipped and still working on three songs.

Lighting is starting to come together.

Tonight we do just music. We must get this hammered out exactly how we want it. I'm concerned about a couple of songs.

Was missing a lot of players last night. I know people have things to do, but ...

Will pick up programmes today or tomorrow.

The press releases in the Daily News and the DeFuniak papers were really nice. We're committed, folks. No backing out now. LOL

Dress rehearsal will be Wednesday, December 5

Can we do a VIP on Friday?

I really want one.

Mary Beth Porter

We were introduced to Mary Beth Porter last night. Glenda stepped in and delivered a very good interpretation of Josh's mother, a take charge machine-gun talking, no-nonsense woman who swept into the Anderson household with food and advise.

We have four days to see if this is gonna work.
